Galileo Galilei

Galilei was born in Pisa in 1564. He taught mathematics at the University of Padua and made reasearches and experiments in mechanics. He invented the thermoscope, the microscope and the telescope. The latter one allowed him to make his most spectacular discovery: the discovery of the satellite Jupiter. He observed Saturn and the phases of Venus. In the year 1611 he became member of the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome and watched the sun-spot.
