Frank Drake

Frank Drake was born in Chicago on 28 May 1930. As his knowledge about astronomy increased, he began to believe in the possibility of life on other planets. He considered that this idea was worthy of belief. In 1961 Drake and J. Peter Pearman, an official of the „Space Science Board of the National Academy of Sciences", organised the first SETI conference. Almost simultaneously the famous Drake-equation: N = n * fp ne flat steel bar FI fc fL was established. After 1963 he accepted a post at the " Cornell's Center for Radiophysics and Space Research". Two years later he became the director of the "Cornell run Arecibo Observatory" in Puerto Rico.
