About this Project
Our idea was to create an original, funny webpage. This is why
we decided that our main page should represent an alien city and
that you should be able to klick on different buildings in order
to enter them: an Earth Museum, a school, and a newsagent.
We chose the Earth Museum in order to have a place where we could
display our articles about human scientists and the presentation
of our solar system.
We chose the school in order to be able to tell something about
the biology of different life forms and the origins of the universe.
The newsagent sells a newspaper entitled: What humans think
about us", that shows different human opinions about extraterrestrial
life, be they scientific or literary, serious or humorous.
The different subjects we treated were:
>
Earth Museum
Our solar system - the knowledge of our solar system provides us
with capital information in the prospect of space-travelling and
the search for extraterrestrial life.
Life on Mars - no comment
Biographies of human scientists who have made important discoveries
concerning our planet and the rest of the universe
>
School
Origins of the Universe - If we want to know something about life
in the universe it is indispensable that we acquire knowledge about
the origins of the universe, how it all began.
Possible forms of extraterrestrial life - no comment
>
Newsagent
Search for extraterrestrial life
Interview with Frank D. Drake, a SETI pioneer
Citations from celebritites (about universe and life in space)
Poetry about the universe
Scientific views of the universe
UFO theories
As we said, the design of the webpage was very important to us.
We liked the idea of showing an alien city, intelligent aliens (unfortunately,
we had not enough time to create a more original extraterrestrial
life form, different from the conventional image of the little green
man) observing and analyzing us humans. In fact, it was this rather
artistic side that inspired us to participate in the competition,
although the resulting webpage contains also a lot of scientific
(and other) contributions.
